Bulk upload canonical URLs, tune defaults, and export sitemap XML plus robots.txt snippets with zero scripting.

Last updated November 17, 2025

Why this tool exists

Generate XML sitemaps and robots snippets without custom scripts. Paste URLs, review defaults, and export a bundle that search engines trust.

Launch migrations

Paste URLs from spreadsheets or exports to refresh your sitemap before pushing a site redesign live.

Incident recovery

Regenerate XML and robots.txt snippets during outages so crawlers rediscover the right routes fast.

SEO QA handoffs

Share the preview XML, entry count, and download with stakeholders during audits without custom scripts.

Quick start

Bulk import canonical URLs, set default metadata, and share XML/robots outputs in minutes.

  1. Open the XML Sitemap Generator, paste up to 300 canonical URLs (one per line), and click “Add to sitemap”.
  2. Set default changefreq, priority, and last modified date before submitting so every entry inherits the right metadata.
  3. Generate the XML to preview, copy, or download along with the robots.txt snippet referencing the sitemap URL.

Mode 01

Upload & limits

Understand the 300 URL cap, bulk textarea behavior, and entry management controls.

  • Bulk input accepts up to 300 URLs per sitemap—helpful alerts fire if you exceed the cap or paste duplicates.
  • Existing entries persist between submissions, so you can add URLs in batches and only flush when you intentionally reset.
  • Each row stores a unique ID, making it easy to remove or edit entries without reloading the page.

Mode 02

Defaults & metadata

Configure changefreq, priority, and lastmod defaults before adding URLs.

  • Change frequency dropdown mirrors standard values (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) and applies globally unless overridden.
  • Priority presets let you highlight homepages or product hubs—click the trash icon to clear priority entirely.
  • Last modified defaults to today; use the date picker or clear button to keep it empty when you manage timestamps elsewhere.

Preview & downloads

Review formatted XML, copy snippets, and export files with one click.

  • Preview panel renders formatted XML plus an entry counter so you can sanity-check URL counts before download.
  • Copy buttons sit above both XML and robots.txt snippets, and the zip download helper delivers a `sitemap.xml` file instantly.
  • Insights call out missing metadata or duplicate URLs so you can fix issues before handing the file to crawlers.

Robots & QA

Keep robots.txt entries synchronized with the sitemap you just exported.

  • Robots snippet points to the generated sitemap filename, making it easy to paste into production robots.txt files.
  • Use Copy robots snippet to keep QA teams in sync when they deploy updates to multiple environments.
  • Pair the sitemap output with the robots snippet before upload so crawlers discover new routes quickly after releases.

Field notes

Habits that keep sitemap revisions clean and searchable.

  • Flush entries after each export to avoid mixing old campaigns with current deployments.
  • Keep your canonical URLs (with protocol + host) ready in spreadsheets so pasting into the bulk textarea is frictionless.
  • Download the XML and commit it alongside infrastructure changes so SEO reviews can diff updates easily.
  • Use this generator together with the upcoming Robots Builder UI to keep crawl hints centralized.
Pair this generator with other Webmaster tools (robots builder, HTTP analyzers, etc.). Return to the documentation hub whenever you need adjacent guides or want to reopen this one from the tool hero.
